How it Works

1. Completing the Application.
This application is a secure application ­ your information and request are encrypted for privacy and safety. We do not require a fee to complete the application, but we may contact you when applying for an equity or home improvement loan, to collect fees for title searches and home appraisal prior to processing your loan. Save $50 on documentation fees by applying online!

The application will ask for personal and financial information about you and any co-applicant. When you have completed the application and submit it to American Trust, a lender will verify the information and e-mail you a message regarding the status of your loan request. Financing provided to residents within a 100-mile radius of Dubuque, Dyersville, or Des Moines, IA, (or) for boat loans, have a boat docked in Dubuque, IA.

Important Information About Procedures for Opening a New Account.
To help the government fight the funding of terrorism and money laundering activities, Federal law requires all financial institutions to obtain, verify, and record information that identifies each person who opens an account. What this means for you: When you open an account, we will ask you for your name, address, date of birth, and other information that will allow us to identify you. We may also ask to see your driver's license or other identifying documents before opening the account.

2. We'll send account disclosures and prepare your loan closing.
Upon credit approval, your account disclosures and loan terms will be mailed to you.

3. Closing the loan.
Your loan officer will e-mail or telephone you to set up the closing and to arrange a time and office location that is convenient for you.

If you are applying for an equity or home improvement loan, after receiving the appraisal and title work, a lender will e-mail you to set up a time and office location that is convenient for you to stop in and sign the loan papers.

You will be provided with copies of loan documentation at this time.
